Hang Seng Index opens 326 points lower on FriPublished: 12 Dec 2008 02:54:13 PST Dec. 12, 2008 (China Knowledge) — Hong Kong stocks fell on Friday morning, with the benchmark Hang Seng Index opening 326 points lower at 15,288. Hang Seng China Enterprise Index, which tracks the overall performance of 43 Chinese mainland state-owned enterprises on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, opened 172 points lower at 8,314. The two largest Chinese oil producers, Sinopec<600028><386><SNP> and PetroChina<601857><857><PTR> fell 3.15% and 2.47% to open at HK$5.18 and HK$6.98 respectively. China Construction Bank (CCB)<601939><939> slipped 2.66% to open at HK$4.80. The Industrial & Commercial Bank of China (ICBC)<601398><1398> tumbled 2.24% at HK$ 4.36.
