Scheduled to perform in six cities, Cats will hit Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Chongqing.A strong lineup of top-level performers from Australia and the UK are part of the current Cats touring cast including one of Australia’s finest musical theater performers Delia Hannah. It is the first time for Hannah to join the tour to China.“After performing in nearly 20 countries, finally I can realize my dream of performing Cats in China,” she said.Interestingly, each performer in Cats is required to raise and care for a cat so that they can observe behaviors and gestures and get inspiration for their performance.Cats kicked off its 2009 world tour in May in Hong Kong. Performances on the Chinese mainland will end the tour, after which the team enters a period of rest and relaxation.Cats is an award-winning musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It created a worldwide sensation when it debuted on London’s West End in 1981.The show is the longest-running Broadway musical and has been translated into more than 20 languages.Cats will begin its mainland tour in Shanghai from September 5-12 at the Majestic Theater, wrapping up in Chongqing from November 7-14.
