China Vanke denies plan to cut staffPublished: 26 Nov 2008 01:49:12 PSTNov. 26, 2008 (China Knowledge) — China Vanke Co Ltd<000002><200002>, the largest publicly traded real estate developer in the country, announced it has no plan to cut staff, market sources reported, citing Xiao Li, vice executive president of Vanke, as saying.The company made this announcement in response to the recent reports saying it plans to lay off staff. Xiao said the above-mentioned market rumors are untrue and unfounded.Vanke has always been regarding the talents as the most valuable assets of the company and the current slowdown of the real estate industry brought by the global financial crisis can be a good opportunity for the company to recruit more talented and experience people.Over the first nine months this year, Vanke’s net profit rose 18.8% from a year earlier to RMB 2.28 billion, with its operating revenue up 59.1% to RMB 22.54 billion. Its total asset amounted to RMB 121.47 billion as of the end of September.
