The auto maker sold 81,652 Skoda vehicles, 82.1% more than in the same period of last year. Based on current figures, VW expects annual sales in China and Hong Kong to reflect growth of more than 30% at the end of the year, said VW Chief Executive Martin Winterkorn.China has become the group’s most important market, but demand is rising so quickly that existing capacity cannot keep up, Winterkorn said.The German auto maker earlier said it planned to invest EUR 4 billion in China by 2011 to expand its production capacity and product line-up.
